The Pyrénées Atlantiques,
than you think
A different nature
awaits you
While some activity routes in Pau focus on the city and its parks or gardens, Ins’pyr takes you truly into the mountains, onto the real playgrounds of the Pyrenees. A different kind of nature awaits you: whitewater, rock faces, high-altitude trails, and panoramas of iconic Béarn peaks like the Pic du Midi d’Ossau.
Béarn and the Ossau Valley,
lands of outdoor activities
In spring and summer, the combination of whitewater, forest, cliffs, and altitude allows for a variety of outdoor activities without having to travel to multiple destinations. From canyoning in the river to multi-pitch climbing and aerial via ferrata, everything is within a short distance of Laruns and Pau Pyrénées.
Frequent
At what age can you start these activities?
The Bious canyon welcomes children from age 8. Via ferrata, via cordata, and discovery climbing are accessible from ages 6 to 10 depending on the activity. Multi-pitch climbing requires a bit more autonomy. No prior experience is necessary for most outings.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No, all technical equipment is provided: neoprene wetsuits for canyoning, harnesses, helmets, lanyards for via ferrata, ropes and belay systems for climbing and via cordata. You just need to bring suitable sports shoes and comfortable clothing.
What is the best time for these outdoor activities?
The season runs from spring to early autumn, with the peak activity from June to August. Conditions are optimal in July and August for canyoning, and via ferrata remains possible until the end of October depending on the weather.
Can I combine several activities in one trip?
Absolutely. Many visitors combine canyoning + via ferrata over a weekend, or follow a day of multi-pitch climbing with a canyoning descent the next day. Étienne organizes tailor-made programs based on your time and interests.
